HISTORY OF OM COMPANY
- 1917: OM is founded in Brescia and starts producing automobiles in 1918.
- 1933: OM becomes, remaining indipendent, part of the FIAT group.
- 1937: The OM plants in Brescia and Milan are combined and three sectors are created: buses and trucks; railway equipment, agricultural tractors, forklift trucks and marine engines; motor pumps and cooling systems.
- 1951: OM builds the first forklift truck equipped with an internal combustion engine.
- 1956: OM starts selling its products at home and abroad through Dealers and Affiliates.
- 1961: The "Piccola Industria Meccanica sul Po" (PIMESPO), manufacturer of warehouse trucks, was founded in Luzzara (Reggio Emilia).
- 1967: OM becomes part of the FIAT group, belonging to the Industrial Vehicles division.
- 1970: The plant in Bari is built and subsequently enlarged in 1977.
- 1975: OM becomes FIAT Carrelli Elevatori, a division of the IVECO group.
- 1981: IVECO acquires the production plant at Luzzara.
- 1992: The LINDE Group acquires part of the Carrelli Elevatori company from FIAT.
- 2000: The corporate headquarters of the company moves from the old building on Via Pompeo Leoni in Milan to its new headquarters in Lainate.
- 2001: The Bari plant undergoes extensive renovations, including the creation of two new truck assembly lines and a new painting facility.
- 2002: On 1 November 2002, the company changes its name to "OM Carrellii Elevatori S.p.A.". Specifically, "FIAT" is removed from the name because IVECO S.p.A. has divested its shares in the company.
- 2006 KION GROUP: In 2006 the three brands Linde, STILL and OM, together with Hydraulics, cluster in a mother company, the KION.
